Today, I decided to pick up a bottle of Sambazon Acai Capsules at my local health food store (I promote a different brand on my website, but it was an impluse buy). The dosage on the bottle per serving is 1000mg, which consists of two capsules (500mg per capsule). The bottle says to take 2-4 capsules/day so this would be between 1000mg - 2000mg per day. While I fully trust Sambazon, I wanted to check to see if there is any credible information on the web discussing the recommended dosage of acai berry extract/capsules.
Prevention.com has a brief statement on its site that freeze-dried acai capsules or tablets are sometimes recommended at 1 to 2 grams per day, so in milligrams this would match up with Sambazon’s maximum recommended dose of 1000mg - 2000mg. For all the mathematicians, 1 gram= 1000 milligrams. The statement is located here:

I spent about 20 minutes searching the web for authority sites that discuss the dosage of acai, but unfortunately was unable to find any other well-known sites discussing this. The majority of smaller sites I found also recommended between 1 to 2 grams per day. The lowest daily recommended dosage that I found was 500mg per day and the highest recommended dosage I found was 4 grams, but I would be hesitant to take such a strong dosage. As with any acai product, you want it freeze-dried because otherwise the dosage would be meaningless due to the lower potency of spray-dried acai extracts.
