Recently, the Better Business Bureau (”BBB”) issued a warning on acai berry free trial offers that have been heavily promoted by companies across the internet. These promotions offer free trials of acai berry products and initially charge consumers the cost of shipping and handling. The BBB has warned that some of these companies are making it difficult for consumers to cancel the free trial offers, charging consumers for products that they did not order, and misleading the consumer to believe that celebrities such as Oprah are endorsing these products. While not all of these companies are engaging in these practices or scams, most of the offers have some type of catch involved with their free trials. Here are some popular acai berry free trials and their catches:
AcaiBurn
Deal
You first receive 60 capsules, which is a one month supply and pay initially $4.95 for shipping and handling.
Catch (Warning: this is freaking confusing, so I called them about it to verify)
In order to cancel the free trial, you must make the company aware that you are cancelling (via live help or telephone), return the 1 month supply at your expense, and it must be received by the company within 14 days of your receipt of the one month supply.
Pure Acai Berry Pro
Deal
You receive 60 capsules, which is a one month supply and pay shipping and handling of $4.99.
If you want to cancel, you need to call them before the 14th day from your order date, complete a form, and need to obtain a special number (RMA number). Otherwise, you will be charged $78.81 for their trial bottle.
Around 30 days from your original order date you are sent a monthly supply and charged $78.81 plus $4.99 shipping and handling and this is repeated every 30 days unless you cancel (it says you can cancel anytime). It also says that you can return the bottles (the ones after your initial trial bottle) within 30 days of the ship date of your product, but it must be unopened and sealed.
Acai Berry Power 500
Deal
You receive a 31 day supply of acai berry extract and pay $3.95 for shipping and handling.
Catch
On the 15th day from the date of order, you are charged $92.58 for a 31 day supply and are charged the same amount every month thereafter unless you cancel. You also agree to a 21 day bonus trial to something called PriceLimbo for $8.51 per month unless you cancel.
Acai Berry Maxx
Deal
You receive a 15 day supply and pay $5.95 shipping and handling.
Catch
If you don’t cancel within 15 days, they ship you a 30 day supply and bill you $79.95 plus $5.95 shipping & handling. Each month they send you another 30 day supply and charge the same amount. It says you can cancel the auto-renewal program and receive a refund of the latest shipped bottle (excluding shipping and handling) by calling or emailing them, getting an RMA number, and returning the bottle. Their cancellation phone number is 877-778-9035 to get further details.
Conclusion
It’s best to read over all the terms and conditions of any acai berry free trial program you are planning to sign up with. You need a freakin’ legal team to figure out half these offers and you’re paying a crapload for their monthly bottle. I’ve found one major company that sells bottles of acai (without the free trial) for $24 with a 90-day money back guarantee and I have put the link on the right sidebar of this page. I’ve also found an acai free trial program for weight loss that is cheaper than all of the other ones I’ve found and I’ve also put the link on the right sidebar.
